Performance

Cotton duck, wire, wood, stools, electronics, custom made cock

Dimensions of cotton structure: 10’ x 20” x 20”

Performed at the Paris Biennale and later at the National Gallery of Canada

Performed at the 11e Biennale de la ville de Paris and later at the National Gallery of Canada.

The audience is seated on stools in the middle of a large exhibition space. There is a  table on which there is a graylab clock set for 30 seconds. Once the audience is seated I endeavour to install four curtains that will create a smaller room housing the  audience. I am making a white box inside the white box. The curtained walls are about 9 feet high and are cotton duct. Each wall involves a different  technique for installation which I have to perform. My work on each wall is  disrupted by the gray lab timer which sounds a buzzer every 30 seconds. What is not immediately apparent is that  time between the buzzes is decreasing, the intervals shorten, the room becomes smaller, the audience is isolated as there are no doors.

The documentation I have here is only half of the images taken. The National Gallery of Canada has the other 50%. Maybe we can one day bring together all the images in one place.
