Snap - 2004
Snap is the second video installation of a planned trilogy of works based on Niagara Falls. The first video is Mist. The third installation was never realized.
There are two major components to Snap. a large screen divides a room in half. Each half of the room has it’s own entrance (in other words to see both images the viewer has to leave one room, walk down a corridor to enter the second space. In the first room a frontal view of Niagara Falls is projected. The image fills the entire wall. In the second room the image locates the viewer in the tunnel behind the Falls. On the wall shared with the first room we see the tunnel portal and the water cascading. On the adjacent wall we witness a paper aeroplane fly down the tunnel into the curtain water.
