Vancouver had a very lively art scene but there was very little historical and international work to be seen. Once at UBC I dove deep into the  Fine Arts Library books and periodicals. In fact I looked at every art periodical they had (this took several months). It was great. There were many finds, one of them being Joseph Cornell. I think one of the ways I come to understand works of art is by replicating them - making something in the spirit of as I did here in response to Cornell.
