I am not sure when I made this piece. I think it was before Boom Boom. I was definitely influenced and trying to emulate Joseph Cornell’s work. I was introduced to Cornell’s work as a student at UBC. I have often found that trying to make something in the style of another artist is a very good way to understand what they are doing. My art history background has been a great asset as I learned lessons from many artists and in some way this assisted me in that I did not have to reinvent the wheel.
