Not playing any musical instrument or having any vocal capacities but having the desire to make a musical piece led me to explore alternative and accessible methods of producing a musical work. I realized I could clap and snap my fingers. This lead me to make a piece using clapping (there is a history of clapping pieces). In collaboration with Joel S. Silver we made Overcome. Joel wrote the score, secured the performers and we choreographed the video. 

Overcome was part of Pat MacAulay’s 2013 Nuit Blanche Parade Expo. He had picked University avenue for the parade. In his parade the floats aka the exhibits were stationary and the viewers moved. Overcome was projected on a large screen located on the street between the Princess Margaret Hospital and the Toronto General Hospital. This was a familiar location for me as I was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. I think the video reflects my journey with cancer.
