This piece is two 30 ton erratic boulders placed in such a way that they appear to be kissing. It is a very intimate moment between two giants. The piece came about quite accidentally for on my bicycle commutes I noticed two boulders had been placed in a parking lot and pushed together. Why and how they got there was a mystery. I saw the aesthetic value.
I really felt their placement was unique and worthy of formalizing. To that end I pursued various lines of inquiry to see if the boulders might be moved to the new waterfront park in Toronto. I did not think that these two boulders had to be seen as an artwork I just thought the rocks and their placement was worthy of maintaining. Waterfront Toronto has since found a place for An Erratic Kiss in their upcoming Biidaasige Art Trail, opening in 2026.
